HARVEY – State Senator Napoleon Harris, III (D-Harvey) announced that several local school districts will soon receive funds from the Illinois State Board of Education for infrastructure improvements.
“The specific needs of school buildings vary greatly and directly impact student’s learning and overall wellbeing,” Harris said. “Providing these funds to local schools will help ensure that our students have better physical learning environments, which in return will help students grow.”
A total of $30 million in 2022 School Maintenance Grants was distributed to districts across the state. To be eligible for the grants, applicants were required to match the state funds and commit to completing proposed projects within two years. Local school districts to receive a grant are:

· Dolton SD 148,
· South Holland SD 150
· Exc Children Have Opportunities
· South Holland SD 151
· Harvey SD 152
· Homewood SD 153
· Thornton SD 154
· Brookwood SD 167
· Crete Monee CUSD 201U
Thanks to these grants, projects made possible include heating and cooling updates, ventilation improvements, increased accessibility throughout buildings, and more.
