HOMEWOOD – State Senator Napoleon Harris III is hosting a recycling, shredding, drug and electronic take-back event free to the public this Saturday, June 27.
“This is a good opportunity to do some summer cleaning and de-clutter while recycling and being mindful of waste,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “This is a program that is free for all to come out and securely recycle the things that are taking up too much space at home or the office.”
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place Saturday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at 930 W. 175th St. in Homewood.
Accepted items include laptops and desktops, fax machines, printers and televisions (limited to one per household), as well as cables, calculators, cellphones and computer hardware.

HOMEWOOD – Building on his strong commitment to public safety, State Senator Napoleon Harris III secured nearly $30,000 for local fire protection districts to help with purchasing new equipment or paying for fire training.
“No matter what Illinois community our residents call home, their safety matters, and they deserve access to reliable emergency fire services,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “These grants will help fire departments buy the equipment and resources they need to keep residents safe.”

HARVEY – State Senator Napoleon Harris III announced that Harvey and Midlothian will receive a combined total of $350,000 through Illinois’ Safe Routes to School program to improve pedestrian safety and expand opportunities for children and families to safely walk and bike in their communities.
“One of our top priorities should always be to make sure our children can get to and from school safely,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “I worked to help secure these investments because every child deserves to feel safe and stay active in our community.”

SPRINGFIELD – After hearing the governor’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2027, State Senator Napoleon Harris (D-Harvey) released the following statement:
“The Trump administration is making major funding cuts to programs in Illinois, so people are counting on us to take care of those that rely on social services to survive. From what I am seeing, the governor’s proposed budget takes care of the people who need it most and doesn’t raise any new taxes on residents. I look forward to working with my colleagues over the next several months to pass a budget that residents from my community will be proud of.”
