HARVEY – State Senator Napoleon Harris III is teaming up with Meridian Health to host a free holiday turkey and ham giveaway for residents of the 15th District.
“The holidays are stressful enough. That’s why we are reaching out and supporting our residents this season,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “No one should go hungry during the holidays.”
The free giveaway will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or while supplies last, at 369 E. 174th St. in Harvey. Holiday turkeys and hams will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents must bring identification verifying district residency for the giveaway. Residents with questions should reach out to Senator Harris’ office at 708-893-0552.

SOUTH HOLLAND – State Senator Napoleon Harris III is inviting residents to a community connection resource fair and turkey giveaway next week to help families save on their energy bills and prepare for the holidays.
“Join us for free assistance and guidance on housing, career opportunities, utility bills and more,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “This is one way we as public officials can give back to our communities and I encourage everyone who needs assistance to join us.”
The event will take place Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Thornwood High School, located at 17101 S. Park Ave. in South Holland. The fair will offer a free grocery care package, including a turkey and holiday sides, for those who reserve one online, while supplies last. Energy assistance options and billing support will be offered alongside energy-saving products, assessments and improvements residents may need.

SPRINGFIELD – To further increase access to mental health treatment, State Senator Napoleon Harris III supported a law extending the existing prior authorization ban to cover medically necessary outpatient mental health services.
“This law will help break down barriers to mental health care that many people in our community face,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “Over the years, people are prioritizing mental health more and more, and our laws should reflect that seriousness.”

SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Napoleon Harris III supported a measure to stop gyms and fitness centers from canceling or changing benefits of a promised lifetime membership.
“Gyms are offering lifetime memberships only to raise prices and cut benefits a year later,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “This law cracks down on gyms using deceptive marketing tactics to take advantage of people just trying to improve their lives through fitness.”
